Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Before Sarah Michelle Gellar took on vamps in Sunnydale, there was "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" (1992)! This campy cult classic gave us Kristy Swanson as the original Buffy, Donald Sutherland as her mysterious (not Giles) mentor, and Paul Reubens stealing scenes as a delightfully over-the-top vampire. But does it hold up?

In this episode of Forgotten Cinema, the Mikes take a bite out of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and break down what works, what doesn’t, and how it compares to the beloved TV series. Is it an underrated gem or just a fun relic of the early ‘90s?

So, grab your popcorn and soda, please notice the exits to the left and right of you and settle down for Forgotten Cinema.

About the Podcast

Forgotten Cinema
A podcast about forgotten films that deserve a second chance
Welcome to Forgotten Cinema! Each episode, Mike Field and Mike Butler highlight a film that for a variety of reasons was forgotten by audiences. Whether it be because a more popular movie was released at the same time or the movie simply didn’t catch on with an audience in the its initial run. We’ll discuss what we love about the movie or perhaps don’t love about it and decide whether the movie is worth a revisit.
