Hard Boiled
The Mikes are joining the Hong Kong police force and teaming up with a loose cannon detective and a too-deep-undercover cop to defeat the Triads in an epic shootout involving long single takes, lots of squibs, and newborn babies. This is John Woo's Hard Boiled.
Listen in as Mike Butler and Mike Field discuss what makes these action sequences so great and how this film can both be a staple action film, help launch Woo's US film career, and equally not get noticed by larger audiences, especially today in our (purist) action genre drought.
So, grab your popcorn and soda, please notice the exits to the left and right of you and settle down for Forgotten Cinema.
