King Arthur

What if the legend of King Arthur was based in part on a real person? Well you'd get 2004's King Arthur; directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Clive Owen, Kiera Knightly, Ioan Gruffudd, and Mads Mikkelsen, the Mikes' favorite Hannibal Lecter.

Join Mikes Butler and Field as they discuss how the use of real extras and sets make the action and setting more interesting and engaging. They'll also talk about how the addition of Guinevere is understandable, it nevertheless distracts from the story at hand and its more interesting characters. Field and Butler also figure out if telling this film as historical fiction hurt or helped King Arthur's chances at the box office.

So grab your popcorn and soda, please notice the exits at the front and rear of the auditorium, and settle down for Forgotten Cinema

About the Podcast

Forgotten Cinema
A podcast about forgotten films that deserve a second chance
Welcome to Forgotten Cinema! Each episode, Mike Field and Mike Butler highlight a film that for a variety of reasons was forgotten by audiences. Whether it be because a more popular movie was released at the same time or the movie simply didn’t catch on with an audience in the its initial run. We’ll discuss what we love about the movie or perhaps don’t love about it and decide whether the movie is worth a revisit.
