Mousehunt

The Mikes are about to make millions, but first they just have to catch that mouse that's been running around the house...if they don't kill each other first.

That's basically the plot of Forgotten Cinema in a nutshell, but ALSO the plot of the 1997 film, Mousehunt; the first feature film by director Gore Verbinski.

In the film, brothers Ernie (Nathan Lane) and Lars (Lee Evans) are down on their luck when inherit their father's old dying string factory that they promised not to sell as well as an old decrepit house they didn't even know he owned. When the brothers find out the house could be worth millions of dollars if they fix it up and auction it, they get straight to work. What they don't know is that the house already has a tenet; a super smart and hard to catch mouse who outsmarts and ruins Ernie, Lars, and even a neurotic pest control specialist (Christopher Walken).

About the Podcast

Forgotten Cinema
A podcast about forgotten films that deserve a second chance
Welcome to Forgotten Cinema! Each episode, Mike Field and Mike Butler highlight a film that for a variety of reasons was forgotten by audiences. Whether it be because a more popular movie was released at the same time or the movie simply didn’t catch on with an audience in the its initial run. We’ll discuss what we love about the movie or perhaps don’t love about it and decide whether the movie is worth a revisit.
