State of Grace

Gary Oldman has got some severed hands in the freezer, but don't worry, it's not weird. It's just for doin' crimes and stuff.

The Mikes are taking a look at the 1990 crime drama State of Grace also starring Sean Penn, Ed Harris, and Robin Wright.

Mike Butler isn't a huge fan of this movie; from the Wright's unnecessary female love interest, to the overused "cop too deep undercover plot," the relationships have with Oldman's unhinged character and more. Field is a fan of the look, setting, and score, but also has some issues with the way Ed Harris' mob boss character is handled.

About the Podcast

Forgotten Cinema
A podcast about forgotten films that deserve a second chance
Welcome to Forgotten Cinema! Each episode, Mike Field and Mike Butler highlight a film that for a variety of reasons was forgotten by audiences. Whether it be because a more popular movie was released at the same time or the movie simply didn’t catch on with an audience in the its initial run. We’ll discuss what we love about the movie or perhaps don’t love about it and decide whether the movie is worth a revisit.
