The Trigger Effect

The Mike's find them stuck in the middle of a power and phone outage in mid 90's suburbia...and folks are going CRAZY!!!!!!

Mike Field and Mike Butler are talking about the 1996 David Koepp film, Trigger Effect, starring Kyle MacLachlan, Elisabeth Shue, and Dermot Mulroney. The Mikes discuss how this film is Koepp's directorial debut, the weakness in the character of Matt, wanting more of Durmot Mulroney's character and how underwritten Shue's character, Annie, is.

Butler and Field also talk about how Butler finds it too absurd that everything goes to Hollywood levels of crazy so fast during a power outage, and the use of color and long shots used to establish the start of the film.

So grab your popcorn and soda, please notice the exits at the front and rear of the auditorium, and settle down for Forgotten Cinema

About the Podcast

Forgotten Cinema
A podcast about forgotten films that deserve a second chance
Welcome to Forgotten Cinema! Each episode, Mike Field and Mike Butler highlight a film that for a variety of reasons was forgotten by audiences. Whether it be because a more popular movie was released at the same time or the movie simply didn’t catch on with an audience in the its initial run. We’ll discuss what we love about the movie or perhaps don’t love about it and decide whether the movie is worth a revisit.
